Week 2 holiday in Asia

Day 7 – 25 March 2011 - Jakarta

After being picked up by Janine & Anka we went to Menadonese restaurant Tinoor.

Following to the house of Janine where we met Om Boetje. Chilling @ Anka’s room (airco) & having dinner we were picked up by Santi (younger brother of Janine).

We could stay 2 nights @ Santi’s place in Bintaro (Jakarta Selatan)

Day 8 – 26 March 2011 - Bintaro & Bogor

We have breakfast in Pondok Indah area at Chinese Dim Sum restaurant. Great food!

Following our trip to Wailan (other brother of same mother) & family in Sentul.

Here we met his lovely family & with all of us (9 of us) we spent time in Bogor in the botanical garden. At lunch time we ate Soendanese food (delicious fish food) & buy our first oleh2 for home.

In the afternoon we got back to Jakarta & I had my appointment with Anka for studio recording of his song. We recorded the song within 2 hrs and went to a restaurant to have a late dinner in Menteng area (Jakarta central).

Day 9 – 27 March 2011 - Taman Mini & Grand Indonesia

Have a long sleep & taking it easy till Janine, Anka & Melani picked us up to go to Taman Mini (TMII). Here we visit some traditional houses from several islands like: Sumatra, Irian Jaya, Sulawesi Utara (north of Sulawesi) & Djokyakarta (Java).

In the afternoon we met Om Boetje, Santi, Sari & Ivan in Shopping Mall Grand Indonesia where we drank Kopi Luwak. One of the bucket list wishes (watch the movie ‘Bucket List’ with Jack Nicholson & Morgan Freeman).

In the foodcentre we have dinner from where we went home. Natasja & I go to Franz & Sisca’s house in Pondok Indah. Here we received a warm welcome with Israeli sweet wine & nice chat.

Day 10 – 28 March 2011 - Pondok Indah Mall 1 (PIM 1)

Today it’s family meetings. At 14hrs we met tante Geert & tante Lien. It was fantastic to meet my tante Geert & having a long good dutch talk about family memories & history. We ate chinese food @ Red Bean in Pondok Indah Mall 1 (PIM 1).

At 21.30hrs we met Junio, Sicilia & Carl Grazio Fernandez @ 7eleven (wifi). This was a nice intense hrs chat. Having a good time with all of us. Pity we were tired & we lack of more time for getting together.

Day 11 - 29 March 2011 - Pondok Indah Mall 2 (PIM 2)

2^nd day of meeting family in the Shopping Mall. It’s so convenient for everybody while everybody lives nearby, saves a lot of travelling & avoiding traffic jam. Imagine that in Jakarta going from 1 place to the other can take standard 1 hr. We had our limit of traffic jams already in the first couple of days!

@ 14hrs we met Brenda, Casie & Abigail Lefrandt. Family of my grandfather’s side. Brenda I know from 1990 in Menado & later in Jakarta while staying with my Opa & Oma at that time. She has always so loving & caring for them … so much appreciated. & we are amazed by how the whole family has such a role model forthcoming. Really nice people with a nice pure spirit. My nieces are adorable!

@ 16.30hrs we met Cindy, Joshua & Jason, family of my grandmother’s side. Cindy is sister of Sisca (where we are staying).

We had some food from Pepper & Lunch and bringing up memories. Very nice we’ve met and time’s too short again. But I’m so happy we meet anyway. Lucky everybody is able to make some time between all their work & schedule.

Day 12 – 30 March 2011 - Jakarta Center, Senayan City & Grandaria City

Final day we have for family and we’ll visit tante Paula in center of  Jakarta. It was really nice to be @ tante Paula’s house where she offered us a lunch. After lunch some chat & tante was busy arranging for us to be picked up in Menado. We got contact with relatives.

In the afternoon we spent some time @ Starbucks in Senayan City Shopping Mall for wifi to upload pictures & reading e-mail.

In Grandaria City Shopping Mall we ate @ Sushi Tei of which Franz selected as the restaurant where we like to treat them because of their hospitality for the last couple of days. Great Sashimi food.

Day 13 – 31 March 2011 Menado

Franz & Sisca give us a ride to Soeharto Hatta Airport T1 for our domestic flight to Menado with Lionair.

Arrival in Menado (Manado) with welcoming by a whole delegation of the family Winerungan. We thought to be picked up by 1 family member. Tante Paula had already arranged! It was warm & Natasja felt like a royality being received like this.

Then looking for the house of Oma Ietje of which we’ve found 1 hr later but she was not at home.

@ 17hrs we went to Kopitiam Café in Menado Bay of Libby Sinsuw & family. A friend I haven’t seen 18 years. Warm welcome with a beautiful view on Manado Tua (volcano in the sea) having fresh Kelapa Muda & fish in 2 recipes.

In the beginning of the evening Yetje Ine Winerungan offered us a room in her hotel Sahid where we went to bed early. We were very tired.

Day 14 – 1 April 2011 - Island Siladen

Our 1^st day on Siladen where we arrived in paradise. An astonishing view from the bungalow from literally 2 meters from sea & hard & soft coral reef. Our mission with snorkeling, finding Nemo & all the others …

With our 1^st snorkeling & walking around the island (4,8km) we got heavily sunburnt like hell on the shoulders.
